How This Site Works

You may have noticed that some of the pages on the site were last updated at the same time as each other (to the second) and you may wonder how...
Well, the entire site is built by a Visual Basic program I have written to aid me with development and maintainence of this site. I am able to change the whole style of the site with a click of a button, update the lists on the site with a click of a button, even add hyperlinks at a click of a button (without even typing in HTML)....infact its all done with a click of a button.

This is how it's done:
I have a database that contains lists of all the UK Kinder Surprise toys since 1991, all the Handpainted Toys and many German Kinder Surprise Toys (I am also working on a Maxi toy section too).
The database has a visual front end that allows me to select a year, then a number and it will display a picture of the toy, and the number of them that I have (including duplicates).
It can also display handpainted toys and pictures of them (see below)

Or I can simply select the web management part of the program and choose what groups of pages I want to update (or the whole site in one go) and click a button to build the web pages. And just to make sure my links are up to date I have made the program update the links list when I click a button (it does this by browsing to each site and verifying that they are still there).

Its so simple and it makes updating this website so quick and painless and ensures that it is updated on a regular basis....and it can be used by anyone.....
If you want to know more just email me at Richard Potter and when the program is fully developed I may even sell you a copy... or click here to go into more depth
